Campaign news / 27 sep 2018
"I challenge you with Madiba's words: It is in your hands to make a better world for all who live in it." - Graça Machel at UNGA 2018.
On Monday, Graça Machel addressed the United Nations General Assembly at the Nelson Mandela Peace Summit to present 100 ideas for a freer, fairer world that the Sparks of Hope represent. Her remarks were incredibly inspiring and focused on the vital work that Sparks of Hope around the world are fighting for every day to achieve peace, justice, equality and health for all.

Later in the day at the SDG Media Zone, #WalkTogether co-hosted a special event called "United Voices of Peace" with PeaceDay365, an organisation that mobilises young people around the world for Peace, through live events, conversations and education. This event brought the conversation about peace, justice and human rights together with young leaders and those that are nascent in their leadership. We were lucky to be joined by Sparks of Hope Victor Ochen from AYINET, Jaha Dukureh from Safe Hands for Girls, Farwiza Farhan from HAkA, Lakshitha Saji Prelis and Fatima Madaki of Search for Common Ground and Alaa Murabit from The Voice of Libyan Women as well as The Elders Hina Jilani and Mary Robinson.
During that event, Mary Robinson and Hina Jilani also presented present a Mandela Peace Mosaic and the book of 100 ideas to South African Energy Minister Jeff Radebe and the Nelson Mandela Foundation CEO Sello Hatang to honour Madiba's centenary.
